The Shelton Hall Memorial Scholarship Application 2024

The Shelton Hall Memorial Scholarship is given annually by Reston Community Players to a Fairfax County high school student dedicated to pursuing the performing arts. In 2024, the award will be $3,000, payable to the recipient's institute of higher learning.

Eligibility

1. Be a High School senior.

2. Have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

3. Be a Fairfax County, Virginia resident.

4. Have been accepted to an accredited U.S. college, university, or technical/ design institute of higher education (funds are distributed directly to the school).5.Intend to major in Performing Arts or Theatre Arts.

Documents Required

1. The Shelton Hall Memorial Scholarship application.

2. A copy of the acceptance letter from the institution you will be attending.

3. A list of productions you have worked on and training you have received (or résumé).

4. A list of other training or experience in the area(s) for which you are applying.

5. Proof of Fairfax County address (i.e., drivers license) or student status (i.e., student i.d.) at a school in Fairfax County, VA.

Note: we request one or the other. We do not need both.

Audition Requirements

Actors - perform two contrasting monologues, between 4 - 5 minutes total
Singers - perform two contrasting songs from memory, between 4 - 5 minutes total. Accompanist will be provided. Performer must bring appropriately marked sheet music for accompanist.
Dancers - perform a routine between 4 - 5 minutes, style of your choosing.
Musicians - perform two contrasting pieces between 4 - 5 minutes total.
Musical theatre - 6-minute audition performing any combination of singing, acting, and dancing.

Auditions and Interviews - scheduled May 11 & 19 at the RCP Rehearsal Hall. All applicants proceeding to auditions and interviews will receive a link to sign up for a time slot by May 5.
