RCP’s all time favorite farce! We have only repeated a handful of plays and musicals over our 45 years, but this is one that the audience has asked for. Complete with girls and guys hiding in closets, mistaken identities and slamming doors. This night in September 1934 is to be the biggest in the history of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, where the famous tenor Tito Morelli is to perform Otello, his greatest role, at the gala season opener. The plans all go wrong when Morelli is accidentally drugged and the opera’s general manager’s assistant, Max, has to go on in his place. Of course when Morelli finally wakes up and wants to perform, hilarity and uproarious dual identities ensue. This madcap, screwball comedy is guaranteed to leave you teary-eyed with laughter!
Recommended for ages 13 and up for sexual subject matter and mild mature language.
Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
